In the Trenches: Angie’s Audio Corner, Toronto
Angie Lisi is an audiophile force of nature. I’ve known her for almost twenty years and have not found many people who are more knowledgeable about our business. She is especially gifted in the ultra important art of system synergy. As such, many of her clients are repeat customers and treat her suggestions like the gold standard. She’s always available for customers, both audiophile ingenues and the most jaded, opinionated hard cases.
For many years Lisi has run the gem of Toronto audiophile stores, American Sound of Canada. She still owns the store and it is going strong under Arnold and Leland, two very kind and knowledgeable employees. Lisi still attends the store a couple of days a week, but now her other focus is the new store, Angie’s Audio Corner (AAC).
Located on Yonge St. 15 minutes north of American Sound, AAC is her new darling and showcases some of her longtime legacy lines (Audio Research, Boulder, Sonus Faber, Focal – JMLabs, NBS, Transparent, etc) and some exciting new products (RJH Audio speakers chief among these) in the most beautiful environment. The store is a converted Victorian, with very good, very comfortable listening rooms.
Initially, the store will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and on Monday, Friday and Saturday by appointment. Lisi or her wonderful assistant, Adrienne, are always available by phone or email.
If you live in Toronto or Southern Ontario, schedule a visit or just drop by. You’ll be welcomed by people who love audio and music, and you may be lucky enough to get a specialty coffee. If you are coming in from out of town, it’s worth your time to visit a store that is built on a passion for audio that is refreshing in this business.
