Welcome to the Audiophilia Dream List. A list of original (OG) or reissued vinyl of all genres compiled by me. I’ll post the list at the top of the review page and link it across our social media anytime it’s significantly updated.
As vinyl has become prohibitively expensive, you’ll be on your own to source a copy. Please read my post Record Collecting in the here and now. And beyond for some suggestions. As many originals are out of reach for most people, some have been remastered/recut by the best companies for reissue and make a great alternative at more attractive prices. Some are so good that I’ve recommended them above the original pressing.
All the records have been auditioned on my reference system. There’s a slide below with my vinyl reference components.
Inclusion on this list implies the highest performance standards, recording and manufacture (cutting, plating and pressing). It also implies my taste for repertoire/songs/artists/bands etc. The recommended vinyl copy information is underneath each record. Notably, the pressing matters most. If you want a Dream List experience, you can try to get the suggested pressing or better (flag denotes country of pressing origin). These are the pressings I have in my collection and are uniformly fine. I'll update the LP's information if a better pressing arises. Prices are not cheap for the most desired pressings, but there you are.
Let’s face it, this list could be populated by thousands of great LPs. So, think how great these albums must be. As such, you can purchase confidently if the music fits.
The new records will appear at the top when the list is updated.
AAA confirmed unless DSD noted. Clicking on the image will take you to our review if available. Where appropriate, I’ll add the reissue remastering engineer’s name (eg. Kevin Gray cut).
